Job description

Turning Passion into Purpose. London South Bank University are excited to be recruiting for the post of Research Assistant: The relevance and credibility of occupational therapy to the Somali community. The successful post holder will make a substantial contribution to the research project funded by the Royal College of Occupational Therapists.

This exciting role would suit a highly motivated researcher and or an occupational therapist/Allied Health Professional/Nurse/ community worker who is of Somali heritage and or has a particular interest and or experience working with the Somali community. Applicants from minoritized racial and ethnic groups, and those with lived experience of social disadvantage/injustice, are strongly encouraged to apply.

The successful candidate will have a strong interest in social inequalities, identifying potential ways to reduce these inequalities and their potential impact on communities; be able to think creatively and innovatively with regards to methods and resources; be keen to learn new skills; be committed to anti-racist practice and contributing to meaningful change. The applicant must be prepared to carry out fieldwork and be committed to co production with the community.

  

About you
The post holder will have experience of working with communities and qualitative and or quantitative research methods. Some experience of clinical study recruitment, data collection, data entry and communicating research findings and impact would be helpful. The individual will be highly motivated to succeed in research, have good organizational and communication skills, be prepared to work to deadlines and in an independent manner.
