About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a research assistant to join our team to provide quality research support to a major UKRI-funded project examining international law enforcement information exchange between the UK, Australia, Canada, New Zealand and the USA. The project involves close collaboration with academics, practitioners and industry actors, with the opportunity for independent work, to assist with writing peer-reviewed outputs, and for national and international travel for data collection and wider dissemination. You will play a key role in driving the project forward. 

The postholder will be based in the School of Law, Criminology and Policing, working with the Principal Investigator and research team.

Within the role you will be conducting literature reviews and assisting with report and article writing, in which you will hold experience with qualitative research methods and analyses which will be adapted throughout this role. Familiarity with quantitative methods would be advantageous, as would previous experience conducting research with law enforcement or other criminal justice agencies. You will also be assisting with project administration and updating the project website with the latest updates.

This post offers multiple opportunities, in addition to supporting your personal and professional development (i.e. supported by the PI and with various training opportunities),the appointee will have the opportunity to work with other academics and experts in industry and practice, nationally and internationally. You will also gain valuable experience networking with partners in law enforcement and industry and contribute to a novel research study with a high impact potential, funded by a major and highly prestigious UKRI funding award

About You

As Research Assistant (Exploring International Law Enforcement Information Exchange) you will hold a Post Graduate Qualification (or be near completion) with evidence of research in a related discipline (i.e. policing, psychological, criminology.) You will be a motivated, ambitious and engaged individual, who is committed to personal and professional development. You will hold the ability and experience in promoting the project and findings through the appropriate social media networks. Through this role, you will be expected to work well as part of a team, as well as holding the ability to work independently and demonstrate your own initiative. You are required to demonstrate high level skills in the use of Microsoft Office systems including Excel and Word, as well as software for data analysis (e.g. NVivo and SPSS). Also note, within this role you may be required to travel (i.e. to meetings and conferences).
