Research Assistant
0.75 FTE, Fixed Term Contract until 30 September 2017

The Emerging Technologies Research Centre's activities are at the crossroads of several disciplines (engineering, chemistry, physics and biology). These range from fundamental materials research (fabricating novel materials, understanding basic physical mechanisms), to investigating device applications in energy, healthcare and power electronics. The Centre has collaborated actively with both academia and industry at national and international level.
We are seeking a highly motivated Research Assistant to work on an exciting project on the use of silicon nano-structures in photovoltaic solar cells. The Research Assistant is required to carry out growth of silicon nano-structures by plasma enhanced chemical vapour deposition (PECVD) technique and understand electrical and optical properties of such structures for photovoltaic applications. The role will include highly technical experimental work, collecting and analysing data and helping to write reports and high-quality (REF-able) manuscripts for publication.

The successful applicant will have the minimum of a PhD in physical or related science or subject related to the topic together with experience in printing techniques for electronic applications, scanning electron microscope and atomic force microscope. Please contact Dr S Paul (email: spaul@dmu.ac.uk) for informal enquiry.
