The Creixell laboratory at the CRUK Cambridge Institute (part of the University of Cambridge) is seeking to hire an enthusiastic and highly-motivated Research Assistant to join a team of scientists studying studying protein substrate specificity. Our lab integrates machine learning and high-throughput biochemistry to study how proteins selectively recognise their substrates, how this process is perturbed in cancer and how it can be hijacked to find highly-selective and mutant-specific drugs to overcome drug resistance. We are developing new tools to address cutting-edge questions in these fields.
This role will be part of a team that integrates molecular biology, low- and high-throughput protein biochemistry along with computational approaches (including artificial Intelligence and machine learning) to understand protein substrate specificity at a molecular level. We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and competent individual with excellent laboratory skills in molecular biology and protein biochemistry. A background in cellular signalling, cancer biology and/or computational biology with a focus on kinases would be advantageous. The successful candidate should show initiative and independent thinking, possess excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a diverse team.
Applicants should have a B.Sc. or M.Sc. degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline (Biology, Biochemistry, Natural Sciences). Previous experience in high throughput bacterial peptide display would be advantageous.
Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 1 years in the first instance.
Once an offer of employment has been accepted, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a security check.
