Job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our Public Involvement and Engagement (PPIE) team as a PPIE Facilitator. You will contribute to PPIE activities across the Imperial Clinical Trials Unit portfolio and will also work closely with the newly formed NIHR RSS Imperial & Partners Hub supporting researchers with embedding PPIE throughout their research.

Background

The recently formed National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) Research Support Service (RSS) Imperial College London and Partners Hub: Applying Methodological Innovation in Health and Social Care Research, will unite the expertise of four leading London Universities with an outstanding record in designing and delivering research. The Hub will deliver excellence in research support across the country by working with applicants to develop high-quality studies, and subsequently provide advice to successful applicants to support delivery of their projects to target and on time.

The Imperial Clinical Trials Unit (ICTU) is a UK Clinical Research Collaboration (UKCRC)-registered clinical trials unit that brings together academic, clinical and trial management expertise from across the Imperial College Academic Health Science Centre (IC AHSC) to deliver world class clinical trials of all phases and designs.


Duties and responsibilities

You will support the Public Involvement and Engagement (PPIE) activities of the NIHR Research Support Service (RSS) and the Imperial Clinical Trials Unit (ICTU).

The PPIE Facilitator will be based at Imperial Clinical Trials Unit (ICTU) and will work closely with public involvement and engagement staff at ICTU and University College London (UCL).

You will support the delivery of high-quality pre- and post-funding award public involvement and engagement advice to researchers nationwide. You will also support the delivery of advice through online multi-media, in-person, and remote consultations 1-1 and in group settings


Essential requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a related field is essential as well as experience of administrative work in a busy office environment. 

  • You will need to demonstrate excellent interpersonal, communication and influencing skills, have meticulous and well-structured administration skills, be able to use their initiative, work independently and in a proactive way.

Further information

This is a part - time role (14h/pw) and fixed term post available immediately and It is offered until 30th September 2028 in the first instance with the intention to extend subject to funding renewal.

You will be based at Stadium House, Wood Lane, close to Wood Lane and White City tube stations.

Hybrid working may be considered for this role.  Staff working in roles that are suitable for hybrid working will normally be expected to work 60% of their time onsite. The opportunity for hybrid working will be discussed at interview
