Closing Date:  Sunday 23 April 2017

In this role you will assist in the provision of specialist technical services to the psychology teaching and research effort of the school.  You will join our Senior Psychology Technician in acting as a source of technical support and expertise for the lab-based work of the undergraduate psychology students.  Overseeing access to the laboratory and all resources/equipment, you will take the lead in the day to day administrative tasks associated with the school’s SONA participant pool system and will operate and maintain all computing and other research apparatus.  You will be capable of working independently, of planning your own work programme, and of responding to requests for support and advice in an organised and logical manner.

Whilst this is a technical rather than an academic post we require a good (1 or 2:1) relevant degree, containing a significant psychology component incorporating training in psychological research methods (quantitative and qualitative) and carrying BPS accreditation, or the successful completion of a postgraduate conversion course.  A transcript of your degree results will be required to be presented at interview which will be held in early May and which will include a test exercise.

The anticipated start date would be as soon as mutually agreeable but in time for the start of the 2017-18 academic year.

In return, the university offers a wide range of benefits, such as a generous annual leave package, including time off over the Christmas period, as well as childcare voucher and travel loan schemes.  You would also be eligible for fee waivers for our PG and PhD courses so would have long term career development options as well as an immediate opportunity to build on the knowledge and skills gained in your degree.

Job sharers welcome.
