Location: Edinburgh, SCOTLAND
Job Type: FullTime
Deadline: 16 Feb 2024

Contract type - Open ended

Full time - 35 hours per week

The opportunity:

The School of Health in Social Science is looking for an exceptional, motivated individual to join the Centre for Psychological Therapies and Hope Park Counselling Centre team as a Project and Development Manager. The successful candidate will work closely with other senior members of staff to take strategic and operational responsibility for the development and delivery of a dynamic programme of continuing professional development and creative research activities.

Social responsibility, community engagement and the alleviation of mental health distress are at the heart of the Centres’ objectives. This role will work within this organisational ethos and culture, supporting colleagues to maintain and enhance the reputation of both Centres as activity grows.

The role will provide line management for the two Operations Co-ordinators who manage the day-to-day operational activity of the centres, working with these colleagues to contribute to the service delivery of short and long-term initiatives, offering management oversight for the resolution of immediate and long-term administrative challenges.

This post is full-time (35 hours per week). We are also open to considering requests for hybrid working (on a non-contractual basis) that combines a mix of remote and regular on-campus working with School requirements of working a minimum of two days on-campus. The post-holder will be expected to network with external stakeholders which may require travel to external sites.

The Centres normal working hours are 8:30am – 8:00pm Monday to Thursday and 8:30am – 4:30pm Friday. There may on occasion be the requirement to support activity across these time periods. This would still fall within the normal 35 hours per week.

Your skills and attributes for success:

  • Experience of supporting the development of training and research to drive innovation and change
  • Experience of providing analysis and strategic advice to senior managers
  • Professional and proactive approach to problem solving
  • Extremely good interpersonal, communication people management, negotiating, influencing and time management skills
  • Ability to manage and develop staff, and to facilitate the implementation of lasting, service improvements and co-ordination
