The Faculty of Law and Pembroke College intend to appoint to the new Professorship of Competition Law from Autumn 2024 or as soon as possible thereafter.
The Professorship, which will be a position of senior leadership in the discipline both in Oxford and worldwide, was made possible through a generous donation from the Law Foundation, a linked charitable trust intended to promote and develop the study of the theory and practice of law.
The Professor will provide leadership in teaching and research at the highest level in Competition Law, making a distinguished contribution to the study of this field, broadly conceived. On behalf of the University of Oxford, they will play an important role in nurturing and developing the intellectual climate of legal studies, by publication and teaching, and by participation in the wider scholarly life of the subject. The Professor will be well placed to provide encouragement, support and mentorship to more junior colleagues and academic visitors, and more generally to sustain a lively scholarly climate in Oxford.
You will be a scholar with an outstanding record of contributing to the intellectual research leadership through your own programme of publications and research funding. You will have an outstanding international reputation for research in your specialist area indicating potential to produce further significant work of a recognised international quality during the tenure of the chair. You will be expected to lead the development of teaching and research in Competition Law at all levels as well as supervise doctoral students and mentor junior colleagues.
You will be a Professorial Fellow of Pembroke College and a member of its Governing Body, which carries with it trustee responsibilities.
If you would like to discuss this post, please contact Professor Sandra Fredman in the Faculty of Law ([email protected]). All enquiries will be treated in strict confidence and will not form part of the selection decision.
All applications must be received by 12 noon UK time on Wednesday 10 January 2024.
Applications are particularly welcome from women and black and minority ethnic candidates, who are under-represented in academic posts in Oxford.
