The Department of Informatics at King’s College London has been through an exciting period of growth in recent years, with 81 academics now in the department, and almost 2000 students across undergraduate, postgraduate, and PhD programmes. The department hosts a strong culture of interdisciplinarity, with research centres focused on common scientific areas intersecting with thematic hubs that focus on external challenges, requiring expertise from multiple sub-disciplines and leading to greater impact.
As the department continues to strengthen, it is now seeking a Professor of Robotics who will combine their outstanding research track record with a commitment to propelling the activity of the department. The successful applicant will be expected to contribute to building collaborations across the Faculty, the wider King’s community, as well as externally. They will also be expected to provide leadership within the robotics area, providing mentorship and guidance to early career researchers, as well as contributing to the delivery of education programmes.
Robotics at King’s is an increasingly strategic activity spanning multiple units, notably across Informatics, Engineering, and Biomedical Engineering and Imaging Sciences. This is an opportunity to contribute significantly to building collaborative activities between these units, as well as with other disciplines such as Arts & Humanities and the Social Sciences.
As a senior academic in the department the postholder will also be expected to contribute to the ongoing development of the departmental strategy.
For further information the job description can be found here , and to discuss this opportunity please contact King’s Search on [email protected] .
The deadline for applications is 23.59 (GMT) on Monday 10th June 2024. To apply for this role, please go to the King’s College London Job Board. The selection process will include a presentation and panel interview. Interviews are scheduled to be held in mid July.
The Faculty of Natural, Mathematical & Engineering Sciences is committed to ensuring an inclusive interview process and will reimburse up to £250 towards any additional care costs (for a dependent child or adult) incurred as a result of attending an interview for this position.
King’s College London is committed to equality, diversity and inclusion and through this appointment process it is our aim to develop candidate pools that include applicants from all backgrounds and communities. King’s particularly welcomes applications from women, people from black and minority ethnic communities, the LGBT+ community and from disabled people.
