DMU has a new strategy, “The Empowering University ”, which has embarked us on an ambitious programme of transformation, making this an exciting time to join us.

We are looking to establish eight Research and Innovation Institutes (RIIs) across the university. These inter and cross-disciplinary, university-wide RIIs will become our beacons of excellence for the work that we do across research, enterprise and business innovation.

We are looking to appoint a permanent professor to the university whose subject expertise will align with the Institute of Law and Social Justice, who will also be required to initially undertake the additional rotational role of Research and Innovation Institute Director for a tenure of 3 years (potentially renewable).

This role is key considering the changing landscape, the internal capacity and the significance of creating globally competitive hubs of excellence.

You will be expected to raise the profile of the Research and Innovation Institutes and the university research reputation both nationally and internationally. You will take responsibility for mentoring and supporting staff in their research and in the preparation for submission to future Research Excellence Framework and Knowledge Exchange Framework assessments.

To be successful in this role, you must have a strong track record in your field with demonstrable impact. You will have experience of managing significant research grants as well as managing budgets, people and resources. Be able to demonstrate success in securing external funding for research with the ability to influence, inspire and work collaboratively across the university.
