The role

As a seasoned Mechanical Engineer with a passion for innovation and leadership, reporting to the Head of Asset Maintenance, you will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including other engineers, project managers, consultants, and service users to design and develop solutions which provides assurance of operation and maintenance of all mechanical services operated by the University.

The role is responsible for ensuring that works to University buildings are specified, managed, controlled and carried out to required standards and programmes whilst ensuring that buildings are able to function safely and efficiently during the works period.

You will conduct rigorous quality checks, identify areas for improvement, and drive continuous enhancement by developing programmes of work across the estate to ensure key mechanical installations are maintained and replaced to the highest standards.

Provide the full range of project management and administrator duties as required to deliver  projects effectively and safely. You will also develop and implement planned intervention strategies to ensure ageing systems are replaced before they fail.

With a proven track record in managing complex programs, you’ll be effective at providing communication across all levels, with an ability to convey technical information to non-technical audiences., and have strong report writing and presentation skills.

Have an HNC in Mechanical Engineering or similarly related discipline or extensive knowledge of mechanical building services installations and their maintenance regimes.

Have strong IT skills including Microsoft Office, Computer Aided Design systems (CAD), and Project Management software packages.

You’ll need to be adaptable, flexible, and thrive in an environment where cooperation and shared goals drive results.
