About the role

We are looking for an enthusiastic Postdoctoral Researcher with Bioinformatics expertise to join the group of Dr Valentine Macaulay in the Nuffield Department of Surgical Sciences. You will be based in the Radiobiology Research Institute (RRI) on the Churchill site as your normal place of work.

The position is supported by Prostate Cancer UK.  You will have a key role in analysing sequencing data from tumours of men recruited to the WINGMEN trial of IGF blockade pre-prostatectomy (NCT05110495). In this role you will be trained and co-supervised by Senior Bioinformatician Dr Alessandro Barberis.

About you

It is essential that you have a relevant PhD/DPhil (or be nearing completion) in Biostatistics, Mathematics, Statistics, Computing, Mathematical Biology or a related subject, and possess sufficient specialist knowledge in the discipline to work within established research programmes.  You will also demonstrate experience, ability and practical success in biostatistics or bioinformatics including work with large datasets and be enthusiastic and an organised self-starter with the ability to manage own academic research and associated activities, and to take direction when relevant.   Previous experience of contributing to publications and/or presentations and the ability to contribute ideas for new research projects and research income generation. Wet lab skills are also a plus but are not essential.

This full-time post is available immediately and is fixed-term until 31st October 2024.
