Postdoctoral Research Scientist in Application of Machine Learning in Sepsis

We have a great opportunity for a Postdoctoral Research Scientist in Application of Machine Learning in Sepsis to join the group of Professor Julian Knight, an established team with a track record of innovation and high impact research in functional genomics, sepsis and susceptibility to multi-factorial disease based at the Centre for Human Genetics, at Nuffield Department of Medicine.

In this role, you be responsible for undertaking analysis of cellular imaging data arising from the research programme and integrating imaging data with matched clinical and molecular data for the same patients. You will develop machine learning models for patient stratification and ideas for generating income. You will identify, define and plan new projects which contribute to the overall aims of the programme together the preparation of research publications. You will manage your own academic research and administrative activities which involves small scale project management.

It is essential that you hold a PhD/DPhil (or close to completion) in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Immunology, Genetics, Biological Science or a related discipline, with a demonstrable interest in the research described here. You will have expertise in machine learning analysis and excellent analytical and quantitative skills with a proven ability to think critically about scientific analysis. You will have a demonstrable high level of communication skills, both written and oral. Having a research experience in image analysis is desirable.
