Postdoctoral Research Associate in Radionuclide Therapy and Bone Oncology (2 Posts)

Updated: 3 months ago
Location: Oxford, ENGLAND
Deadline: 17 Jan 2024

Contract type: Fixed term for 24 months

Hours: Full-time

About the role

We are looking to appoint two Postdoctoral Research Associates, for a well-resourced project funded by Prostate Cancer Foundation, to study the role of metabolism in the radionuclide treatment of prostate cancer bone metastasis. Each candidate will be responsible for a focused sub-area of research (radioresistance or dormancy) as well as both contributing to the wider research project with international and Oxford-based collaborators. You will work within Prof. Edwards’ and Dr. O’Neil’s research teams focused on bone metastasis and radionuclide therapy respectively. The radiopharmaceutical industry worldwide is rapidly expanding beyond our current understanding of radionuclide radiobiology and currently presents an exciting opportunity for candidates from diverse backgrounds to develop a career in radionuclide therapy research. It is anticipated that the rich datasets from this project will inform the design of an image guided theranostics early clinical trial and also provide support for independent research fellowships and additional projects.

About you

It is essential that you hold or be near completion of a PhD degree, in a medical/biological subject or equivalent, and have previous research experience, ideally in a similar research field. Experience of preclinical and cellular/molecular biological techniques are essential, and experience with murine models and metabolic research is highly desirable. Prior experience with open-source radiation is not required, but a willingness to handle open-sources of ionisation is essential. Good oral and written communication skills and inter-personal skills are essential. Applications from highly motivated postdoctoral scientists who wish to gain research experience before seeking independent fellowship funding are particularly welcome.

These full-time posts are available immediately and are fixed-term for 2 years in the first instance.
