Contract type: Fixed term for 24 months
Hours: Full-time
About the role
We are looking to appoint a Postdoctoral Research Associate, for a well-resourced project funded by Prostate Cancer Foundation, to study the role of metabolism in the radionuclide treatment of prostate cancer bone metastasis. You will work within Prof. Edwards’ and Dr. O’Neill’s research teams focused on bone metastasis and radionuclide therapy respectively. The radiopharmaceutical industry worldwide is rapidly expanding beyond our current understanding of radionuclide radiobiology and currently presents an exciting opportunity for candidates from diverse backgrounds to develop a career in radionuclide therapy research. It is anticipated that the rich datasets from this project will inform the design of an image guided theranostics early clinical trial and also provide support for independent research fellowships and additional projects.
About you
It is essential that you hold or be near completion of a PhD degree, in a medical/biological subject or equivalent, and have previous research experience, ideally in a similar research field. Experience cellular/molecular biological techniques are essential and metabolomic research is highly desirable. Prior experience with open-source radiation or murine models are not required, but a willingness to handle open-sources of ionisation and preclinical animal work is essential. Good oral and written communication skills and inter-personal skills are essential. Applications from highly motivated postdoctoral scientists who wish to gain research experience before seeking independent fellowship funding are particularly welcome.
These full-time posts are available immediately and are fixed-term for 2 years in the first instance.
Application Process
If you would like to discuss this role please contact Dr O’Neill at [email protected] and Prof. Edwards at [email protected]
Applications for this vacancy are to be made online. You will be required to upload a supporting statement, setting out how you meet the selection criteria, curriculum vitae and the names and contact details of two referees as part of your online application. Please quote reference NDSA914B on all correspondence.
Only applications received before noon on Thursday 7th March 2024 can be considered.
Interviews will be held on week commencing 18 March 2024
Committed to equality and valuing diversity
