Postdoctoral Research Associate in ESR spectroscopy

Updated: about 1 month ago
Location: Oxford, ENGLAND
Deadline: 15 Mar 2024

Applications are invited for a full-time Postdoctoral Research Associate in ESR spectroscopy to work under the supervision of Dr Claudia Tait for a period of 12 months.  The project involves method development in ESR spectroscopy and application of a series of continuous-wave and pulse ESR techniques for the in-depth characterisation of spin states in semi conductive materials for organic electronics, including organic photovoltaics, and bioelectronics.

Applicants must hold a PhD in Chemistry, Physics, or a relevant subject area, (or be close to completion) prior to taking up their appointment. The research requires extensive experience in continuous-wave and pulse ESR spectroscopy, including experimental setup, setup optimisation and coding for data analysis and simulation. You will be expected to manage your own academic research and administrative activities. This involves small scale project management, to co-ordinate multiple aspects of work to meet deadlines.

The post will be based in the Department of Chemistry, Physical and Theoretical Chemistry Laboratory, South Parks Road, OX1 3QZ and is available from June 2024.

Applications for this vacancy are to be made online and you will be required to upload a supporting statement and CV as part of your online application.  Your supporting statement must explain how you meet each of the selection criteria for the post using examples of your skills and experience and clearly state the level of expertise in the areas listed under point 2 of the essential selection criteria in the detailed job description. Certificates, references, and research papers should not be provided at this stage.

The closing date for applications is 12.00 midday, 15th March 2024. Interviews will be held as soon as possible thereafter.
