The NIHR CLEAN-Air (Africa) Global Health Research Unit seeks an experienced and independent researcher to be appointed as a post-doctoral Research Associate (Grade 7) or as a Research Fellow (Grade 8, based on experience) to coordinate quantitative data streams and analysis for the CLEAN-Air(Africa) programme. This role will include close collaboration with researchers across East and Central Africa to lead a programme of high-quality data collection and analysis in collaboration with the CLEAN-Air(Africa) UK research team. Strong analytical and communication skills, as well as mentoring and training abilities are essential to the role, to support colleagues in data collection, cleaning, analysis and dissemination through writing.

Candidates should have prior experience in designing and conducting environmental and/or health studies and health impact evaluations. Experience in collection, analysis and dissemination of varied quantitative datasets is required. You should have a PhD in Environmental health or Public Health, for appointment at Grade 7, and additional substantive Post-Doctoral Experience in Environmental Health or Public health, for appointment at Grade 8.

The post is available for 24 months with possibility of extension, commencing in June 2024.

Any applicants who are still awaiting their PhD to be awarded should be aware that if successful, they will be appointed at grade 6, spine point 30.  Upon written confirmation that they have been successful in being awarded their PhD, they will be moved onto grade 7, spine point 31 from the date of their award.
