We are recruiting for a Postdoctoral Research Assistant. This position is for 12months.

We are recruiting for an exceptional individual to join us as a Postdoctoral Research Assistant within our Population Health and Genomics Department. This is a fixed-term appointment for 12 months. You will be part of the Chronic Pain Research Group (https://www.dundee.ac.uk/cprg ) at the University of Dundee, which is in the Division of Population Health and Genomics, University of Dundee.

The role will mainly be focussed on progressing development of the SUStainable Self Effective Exercise Development (SUSSED) intervention, which aims to support a personalised approach to increasing physical activity in people with chronic pain. You will also have the opportunity to work on other ongoing projects within the CPRG as appropriate. We support Early Career Researchers, with active mentoring, and a range of relevant training options for scientific and academic development.

Whilst the post is funded for 12 months in the first instance there may be the opportunity for extending this role, dependent on funding. Under the supervision of the research team, your priorities will include:

  • Completing data review, analyses and write-up of the SUSSED pilot study
  • Working on the next phase of SUSSED development (including funding applications; study management group meetings; public engagement work)
  • Working with patient partners Public and Patient Involvement and Engagement (PPIE) at all stages of the research cycle, with support from our PPIE Co-ordinator
  • Ensuring that all regulatory requirements, and necessary approvals are maintained/in place, with collected data recorded and held in a secure manner
  • Leading and contributing to reports, scientific papers and presentations arising from this work
  • Working on other projects within the Chronic Pain Research Group as appropriate

 

We are looking for someone with:

  • PhD or equivalent higher degree in a relevant subject (applications from candidates about to submit their thesis will be considered)
  • Strong statistical skills
  • Experience of mixed methods research
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact constructively in a diverse team including patients, clinicians and scientists
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English
  • Ability to work independently, and as part of a team
