We are seeking a Postdoctoral Research Assistant to join Professor Powrie and Midwood. Professor Powrie is the Director of the Kennedy Institute of Rheumatology, and Professor Midwood is Professor of Matrix Biology at the Kennedy Institute. You will join two dynamic and successful groups studying immune regulation and tissue injury in the intestine, and how a breakdown in tolerance and release of extracellular matrix molecules contribute to inflammatory bowel disease.

The aim of the project is to investigate the role of posttranslational modifications in the extracellular space, and their effect on inflammatory bowel disease. The project will use in vivo models of inflammatory bowel disease, cell culture, imaging techniques and molecular biology. 

You will be responsible for the development of the research project and plan new studies with other team members and maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all findings, whilst making these available to other members of the team. You will actively participate in meetings at group, institute and departmental level, maintain up-to-date awareness of relevant publications in the area of research and share responsibility for preparing and submitting publications.

You will hold a PhD degree (or near completion) or equivalent in Immunology or related subject, have experience of and proven research skills in intestinal biochemistry and have bioinformatics experience analysing RNA sequencing data. Extensive cell culture experoemce, particularly using fibroblasts is essential.

Experience in proteomics anaylis is desierble.

This is a fixed-term, full time position for 6 months.  

Due to the nature of the research at the Kennedy Institute of Rheumatology, this job will require additional security pre-employment checks:
