We are seeking a Postdoctoral Research Assistant with a background in immunology/ neurobiology to join the interdisciplinary laboratory of Dr Fränze Progatzky at the Kennedy Institute of Rheumatology, based within the Nuffield Department of Orthopaedics, Rheumatology and Musculoskeletal Science. You will contribute to a Wellcome Trust funded research project to study the role of peripheral glial cells in the regulation of immune homeostasis and inflammation of the lung and to determine underlying pathways that control their interaction with other lung tissues in health and disease.

You will manage interdisciplinary academic research programme and administrative activities, contribute ideas for new research projects and represent the research group at external meetings/seminars, either with other members of the group or alone.

You will advise other members of the group on scientific protocols and experimental techniques and provide supervision of technical staff and DPhil students, including training and mentorship.

You will hold a PhD/DPhil degree (or near completion) and have extensive research experience and specialist knowledge in studying cellular immunology, neuro-glial biology or neuro-immunology, as well as having a notable publication record. Experience of independently managing a discrete area of a research project is diserable.

This is a fixed-term, full time position for 3 years.
