Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Battery Modelling

We are seeking a full-time Postdoctoral Research Assistant to join the Battery Intelligence Lab at the Department of Engineering Science (central Oxford).  The post is funded by Horizon Europe or the UKRI Horizon Europe Guarantee and is fixed-term for up to two years or until 31 December 2026, whichever is sooner.

The successful candidate will be part of “DigiBatt” (Digital Solutions for Accelerated Battery Testing), an EU project on new approaches for battery development to extract more information from fewer tests, harnessing the latest advances in automation, data science, diagnostics, and modelling. You will develop battery models and new methods for performance and lifetime diagnostics/simulation and integrate these into frameworks for parameter estimation and design optimisation.

You should possess a relevant PhD/DPhil (or be near completion), skills in battery models and software development, and have great time management and communications skills.  You should also have skills in object-oriented programming and software engineering best practices in Matlab, Python, and/or Julia.
