Postdoc Academy - Communications Assistant

Updated: about 1 month ago
Location: Cambridge, ENGLAND
Deadline: 17 Mar 2024

The Postdoc Academy (PdA) is looking to appoint a Communications Assistant to support and contribute to engaging communications across our website, newsletter and social media channels, providing information to Cambridge's community of 4,000 postdocs.

This is an exciting opportunity to join PdA's vibrant team. Established in 2013, PdA plays a leading role in enabling Cambridge postdocs to realise their potential through our programmes and activities, and our work is continually adapting. We provide key information through our weekly bulletin and website; development opportunities such as training, mentoring, and access to networks; community building and engagement, in partnership with postdoc societies and committees; and advocacy, ensuring that postdocs can participate fully in governance and decision-making.

The role is part of the Communications team which provides strategic planning and delivery of the overall communication programme for PdA and its activities, ensuring that our audiences understand our programmes, spaces and advocacy work, and we produce a wide variety of content that enriches postdocs' experiences at Cambridge.

Working with the Communications Manager, the Communications Assistant will deliver effective multi-channel communications activity to our community, including: working with colleagues across the University to update content on the PdA website, ensuring it is accessible, user-optimised, and accurate; creating content for the PdA's weekly newsletter and social media accounts; using analytics tools to track and report on engagement with our communications channels; updating our mailing lists and content calendars.

This role will suit someone with excellent writing skills and attention to detail, and some experience of creating digital content. An understanding of the higher education/research environment and interest in working with the early career researcher community would be an asset.

We currently operate a hybrid working environment, with the team being in the office for a minimum of two days per week.

The Postdoc Academy believes that we will best support the postdoc community by bringing together a diverse team and creating a positive, inclusive work environment, where everyone can be themselves. We warmly encourage applicants from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic backgrounds, disabled people, and LGBTQ+ individuals.

Once an offer of employment has been accepted, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a health assessment and reference checks.

Applications are welcome from internal candidates who would like to apply for the role on the basis of an 18-month secondment from their current role in the University.
