About the role
We are looking for a motivated individual to join our lively Placement and PGT Employability team.
Undergraduate and postgraduate taught students have the option of taking a one-year work placement in industry as part of their degree. The focus of this role will be on supporting our PGT students who are a mostly international cohort. We are also looking to support students to undertake short micro-internships of a day to one week.
You will play a vital role in maintaining strong professional relationships with current placement providers in an industry facing role whilst also proactively sourcing and developing opportunities to generate new placements. You will act as a point of contact for students, academic staff and employers, dealing with enquiries and providing guidance.
This position is offered on a part time (21.9 hours) basis, fixed term until 10th March 2025 or the early return of the postholder.
About you
A major part of the role is to provide employability support to students on a one-to-one basis and good written English skills are crucial. In addition, you will be required to deliver skills workshops and talks and must be a confident, lively presenter to communicate to the student audience.
With excellent organisational skills, you will demonstrate a good use of initiative and be able to multi-task and prioritise a high workload. Attention to detail and good administrative record keeping are crucial. We work together as a team to achieve overall results and you will need to be a good team player. An interest in learning about and working with engineering and design subject areas and industries would be beneficial.
