Are you familiar with analytical and data visualisation tools like Tableau and Power BI and adept at using your advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office/Excel to produce charts, statistical data, pivot tables, VLOOKUP, etc? Are you looking for a fresh challenge in an environment that’s open, vibrant and welcomes new ideas? Then join the University of East London’s People & Culture Directorate as a People, Systems & Insight Specialist.

It’s a particularly exciting time here at the University as, under our 10-year strategy, Vision 2028, there are big changes happening. Committed to driving diversity in the 5.0 talent pipeline, we work in partnership to promote talent wherever it is found and strive to create a balanced, inclusive and green future and provide our students with the skills necessary to thrive in an ever-changing world.

Our People & Culture (P&C) directorate consists of five distinct core functions - Talent Acquisition, Employee Experience & Development, Operations, Systems & Service, Employee Relations & Policy and Health and Safety & Wellbeing. Collectively, they’re responsible, in partnership with stakeholders across the organisation, for delivering the University’s people strategy. The aim is to create an environment where people are attracted to work at the University and helped to develop and grow and deliver their best work in a high-performing and supportive environment.

As a People, Systems & Insight Specialist your focus will be on employee related research. However, you’ll also play a key role in ensuring our P&C systems and processes work effectively. As well as creating data insight development work, you’ll be responsible for collecting and analysing all workforce data, highlighting the challenges involved and tracking progress. We’ll also rely on you to develop complex modelling that serves the University’s needs and helps the P&C directorate maximise our investment in people. Along the way, you’ll get to liaise with P&C teams and other key stakeholders, identify what tactical, strategic and operational information is needed, analyse business requirements, propose solutions, and much more besides.

To succeed, you’ll need proven experience in a similar role that had reporting responsibility, preferably within an HR function. Indeed, exposure to, and an understanding of, HR Reporting analytics, data management principles and GDPR would be a distinct advantage. You’ll also need the numeracy and analytical skills it takes to gather complex data and translate into a format that’s both relevant and easy for the target audience to understand. Sound knowledge of data governance for the purpose of defining and documenting data definitions and identifying downstream impacts of HR data changes, often in collaboration with Finance and IT, is also required, while excellent communication skills, written and verbal, a proactive approach and the ability to multi-task, are also must haves.
