Job Description

As the People Business Partner, you'll play a crucial role in providing proactive and high-quality strategic and operational support to both Academic Faculties and Professional Services at our university. Your focus will be on ensuring that our people management strategies are fully aligned with the university's vision and the strategic objectives outlined in our People and Culture Strategy.

You'll take the lead on strategic programs of change, meticulously identifying and proactively managing all people-related implications in accordance with university policies and industry best practices. Additionally, you'll be responsible for overseeing the successful delivery of a diverse portfolio of people projects, ensuring that each initiative contributes positively to our overall organisational goals and priorities.

Responsibilities

  • To partner Academic and Professional Services leaders to own the people priorities and deliver the People and Culture strategy aligned to the University’s overarching strategic plan
  • To build and maintain strong proactive partnerships with university leaders and provide coaching support to enable them to successfully lead their people agenda
  • To support leaders to create people centric culture, where diversity and inclusion is valued as a strategic priority
  • To ensure positive employee engagement through effective communication with key stakeholders including leaders, colleagues, trade union representatives and staff network representatives
  • To understand all people related metrics and use the data and technology available to proactively support leaders with informed problem solving and decision making
  • To be responsible for supporting leaders with change management, including the development of effective business cases for change, the creation of robust delivery plans, the identification and assessment of people-related issues to anticipate HR-related challenges, and implement appropriate solutions
  • To support University leaders to develop and embed a culture of high-performance including capability management, talent management, and the development of robust succession planning

About You

  • Fully CIPD Qualified or equivalent
  • Evidence of continuous professional development, including up to date knowledge of employment law and good HR policy and practice
  • Experience of working as a People Business Partner, providing high-quality people partnering support to leaders and senior managers
  • Experience of operating in a unionised environment, with an awareness of current issues within the Higher Education sector and how they may affect the People agenda
  • Demonstrable experience of building strong relationships with key stakeholders and coaching leaders to deliver a strategic people agenda
  • Experience of delivering strategic change projects in an engaging and proactive way
  • Track record of successful complex case management

You will be based at our Horsforth Campus and through our agile working framework, will also spend time working remotely, which will be discussed further at interview.
