The University of Lincoln is looking to hire a Post-Doctoral Research Associate (PDRA) with a strong background in the real-time motion control of ground vehicles.

The project is to support the development of an all-electric self-propelled agricultural sprayer platform, with focus on the advanced control of its motor drive system for optimal performance and energy-efficiency. The project will also investigate AI techniques for efficient and sustainable crop-spraying.

This is an exciting new project funded by Innovate UK and DEFRA, working with the School of Engineering, the Lincoln Institute of Agri-food Technology plus industry partners. As PDRA you will join the School of Engineering team at the central university campus. Field-testing will take place at different locations in Lincolnshire, including at the university’s Riseholme Campus.

Candidates should have a PhD in Engineering or a closely related discipline. Applicants who are close to completing their PhD research are also warmly encouraged to apply.

In support of our commitment to developing colleagues by providing opportunities for internal movement and promotion, applications for this opportunity will only be accepted from people who are currently employed by the University of Lincoln. We actively encourage applications from all colleagues across the University with the relevant skills and experience.

If you would like to have an informal discussion regarding this role, please contact Tim Gordon, Professor of Vehicle Control Engineering, [email protected]
