This role is open to current employees within the Student Education Services at the University of Leeds only

Salary: Grade 7 (£37,099 - £44,263 p.a. pro rata depending on experience)

This role will be based on the university campus with scope for it to be undertaken in a hybrid manner. We are also open to discussing flexible working arrangements.

Are you looking for a varied role supporting students’ wellbeing? Do you have experience of managing a complex caseload? Do you have skills in active listening and signposting? Would you like to deliver wellbeing activities, student support initiatives and projects? Would you like to support students facing barriers to learning?

This post will provide support to student learning and development across taught programmes in the School of Dentistry. You will provide one to one support to students with the provision of pastoral care being a priority. You will work in partnership with the School Student Support Team to advise and support students, ensuring they are directed to other central support services available at the University.

You will support students through reflective practice and the delivery of workshops, local groups and activities. You will underpin academic learning by providing personal and practical help to students at all stages of their development with the School of Dentistry. You will have awareness of the resources offered within the university and ensure that students in the School are fully informed and have the opportunity to access the services available. This will be further supported by working in collaboration with colleagues and support services to deliver a project, reviewing any gaps or challenges accessing the overall service that students within the School of Dentistry and Faculty of Medicine and Health face.

You will have substantial experience of supporting student development and providing pastoral care. An understanding of the issues relating to the transition from school to university, the needs of non-traditional students and the cultural differences faced by students are essential. You will have experience of working in the Higher Education or advanced Further Education sectors and you will have the skills to work alongside profession services and academic colleagues and be able to adapt materials and approaches to support diverse student groups. Understanding the need for confidentiality and being able to work closely with students with sensitivity and tact is essential.

What we offer in return
