PERMANENT CONTRACT – 36.5 HOURS PER WEEK
BASE: EXTON PARK, CHESTER
The Net Zero Transition Officer role presents a unique opportunity to develop and lead the delivery of innovative solutions to decarbonise the University’s estate. The role sits within the Sustainability team and is responsible for managing and improving the University’s performance of energy, water, and carbon emissions.
The Sustainability team is part of the wider Estates & Facilities team, which maintains an extensive and diverse property portfolio, dispersed across sites in Chester, Warrington, Shrewsbury and Birkenhead. You will be expected to work collaboratively with Capital Projects and Maintenance teams in Estates, academic departments, Research and Knowledge Exchange Institutes and external stakeholders to identify, develop and implement energy, water and carbon reduction projects across the University estate and regularly report on progress (carbon and financial savings) to stakeholders and strategic leadership.
We are seeking to recruit a knowledgeable, self-motivated and outcome driven person with experience of managing, analysing, and using large datasets to identify opportunities to improve performance, resulting in reduction in utility consumption, carbon emissions and financial savings. Your day-to-day work typically will involve working with colleagues across the University to analyse estate energy, water and carbon data, monitoring the impact of projects/interventions which will require attention to detail and high levels of numerical accuracy.
You will also be expected to create opportunities to involve students in all stages of design and delivery of the Net Zero Transition Plan. You will have a thorough understanding of low carbon and renewable technologies and pathways to net zero.
You will be part of a Sustainability team who are committed to improving performance and creating opportunities for students and staff to learn and develop sustainability skills. You will need robust energy management and analytical skills and be able to communicate clearly and succinctly with a variety of audiences (students, staff, and other stakeholders).
We encourage applications from a diverse range of applicants.
