MVLS Business Change and Project Manager

Job Purpose

You will deliver MVLS business change and process improvement activities and lead on project planning and delivery of a strategically aligned portfolio of change. Furthermore, you will contribute as a senior manager to the development and delivery of the College and University’s strategy, policy, operational plans and cultural change.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

1.      Lead on consultation, engagement and scoping activity within MVLS.

2.      Manage, motivate and develop team members, driving a culture of growth and personal development.

3.      Network, share best practice and establish change and improvement links across the University.

4.      Plan and deliver change activities as agreed by College Management.

5.      Ensure effective planning and management of resource, project milestones, benefits, dependencies, risks and issues, communication and operational readiness, change delivery and business continuity.

6.      Deliver change in-line with stakeholder requirements, University and wider policy/legislation, and industry best practice.

7.      Collaborate with colleagues to build effective project management / process improvement systems and promote knowledge sharing through engagement with communities of practice.

8.      Engage, communicate and where necessary, report to sponsors and stakeholders.

9.      Deliver business improvements within agreed timescales, budgets and scope, and align with College and University strategies.

10.   Other duties as required.

Knowledge, Qualifications, Skills and Experience

Knowledge/Qualifications

Essential: 

A1 Experience in delivery of change projects within a Higher Education setting and detailed knowledge and working understanding of sector. 

A2 Project management / Continuous Improvement experience using methodologies.

Desirable:

B1 Relevant degree/postgraduate qualification or qualification in project / change management (Prince2, Lean Six Sigma, APM, PMI or other).

Skills

Essential:

C1 Strong leadership and management abilities. 

C2 Excellent influencing and negotiating skills.

C3 Structured approach to project management including regular and robust reporting. 

C4 Ability to analyse sometimes ambiguous and complex situations and create simple processes.

C5 Ability to challenge, test and interrogate information and align with best practice, including testing and using industry benchmarking information. 

C6 Ability to work under pressure.

C7 Ability to liaise and co-operate with people across organisational boundaries, skilled at setting expectations, measuring performance and communicating results. 

C8 Experienced in developing databases, roadmaps, reports and engaging and informative presentations.

Experience 

Essential:

E1 Project management in complex environments involving multiple stakeholders. 

E2 Substantial expertise in leading business analysis.

E3 Target setting and performance management.

E4 Engaging and working with project teams and ensuring delivery of projects to achieve key targets.

Desirable:

F1 Experience of business change related work in Higher Education, ideally including medical, veterinary and life sciences.

Terms and Conditions

Salary will be Grade 8, £48,350 - £56,021 per annum.

This post is full time (35 hours per week) and open ended (permanent). Relocation assistance will be provided where appropriate.
