About the vacancy: UWE Bristol Centre for Music is recruiting a full time technician on a permanent term contract. Alongside developing and maintaining Centre for Music’s specialist music facilities including rehearsal and recording studios, practice rooms and DJ booth, the technician supports students in using our extensive collection of music equipment. This role also provides technical delivery for events from DJing gigs to orchestral concerts both on campus and in Bristol’s most prestigious venues.

About Centre for Music: Centre for Music is run by a small, dynamic team dedicated to providing extra and co-curricular music opportunities to all students and staff at UWE Bristol. We are looking for a versatile and experienced sound engineer who can provide technical support for many different kinds of events, often requiring quick problem-solving and a pragmatic, can-do approach to keep up with our diverse and busy schedule.

The successful candidate will be an excellent communicator who can confidently liaise with both senior staff and students to ensure technical requirements are delivered successfully, often in unconventional settings alongside venues. The role-holder needs to be proactive, self-sufficient and highly organised, ideally with experience in facilities and asset maintenance to ensure our spaces and equipment are kept in good order for the 2000+ students who engage with us throughout the year.

This post is based at our lively Frenchay campus where we have invested in the latest facilities and resources to give both our staff and students access to everything they need to succeed.

This is a full-time permanent post working 37 hours per week.

UWE Bristol is a campus-based University and it is important for our success and the delivery of an outstanding experience for our students that our campuses are dynamic and vibrant places to learn and spend time. This role is therefore campus based for all of your time.

The University’s normal practice is that new appointments will be made at the starting point of the grade.
