Teesside University International Study Centre is seeking an experienced Maths tutor to join the Computing, Engineering and Science team. In this role, you will collaborate with colleagues to ensure the effective implementation of teaching programs in alignment with our teaching, learning, and assessment strategy, as well as broader goals for an exceptional student experience. Your responsibilities will extend to direct contributions to student support and the introduction of innovative teaching practices within the Centre. As a tutor, you will play a key role in designing, developing, and producing teaching, learning and assessment materials, facilitating delivery across various Maths modules at Foundation (RQF Level 3), Year One Undergraduate (RQF Level 4), and Pre-Masters (RQF Level 6) levels.
The ideal candidate will be able to teach modules in:
- Computational and Engineering Maths
- Core Maths
- Engineering Maths
- Applied Maths
- Maths for Computing
- Maths for Business
ABOUT THE ROLE
Student Learning Experience:
- Contribute to module design, delivery, and development.
- Deliver up to 25 hours of teaching through lectures, seminars, and tutorials weekly.
- Prepare unit examinations and various assessments, providing timely feedback to students.
- Develop and update course material for both physical and virtual learning environments.
- Collaborate with administration for induction, orientation, and registration programs.
- Monitor and support students' welfare and academic progression.
Quality and Standards Assurance:
- Implement quality assurance procedures at module and teaching session levels.
- Contribute to annual monitoring and review of courses.
- Maintain accurate records of students' attendance and performance.
ABOUT YOU
- A Master’s degree or PhD (Essential) in Maths, Computer Science or a related subject area.
- Relevant Teaching Qualification (Desirable)
- Experience of teaching relevant subject modules in the UK Higher or Further education sector and experience of working with international students.
- Ability to develop and update teaching material and preferably experience of working within a Virtual Learning Environment.
- Competence in teaching and administrative IT skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, e-mail, etc.).
