About the role
To maintain the Møller Institute buildings, along with the planning and managing of projects and capital investments and site wide compliance.
Hours of Work: 40 hours per week, 10 days over 14, including weekends as required.
Salary: £35,000 – £40,000 per annum
Key responsibilities
- To support the Centre Manager / Director of Finance with the creation and delivery of the five-year and ten-year maintenance plan, liaising closely regarding budgets and cash-flow depreciation.
- To maximise the completion of projects, liaising with Centre Manager and Client Development and Relationship Team, whilst minimising disruption to preserve quality, customer satisfaction, yield, and profit.
- To carry out monthly checks of critical areas for compliance, as identified in our risk management process, including water hygiene, mechanical lifts, electrical testing, and training.
- With support from the Facilities Assistant, take a hands-on approach to check and complete all maintenance requests, ensuring the overall appearance of the building is maintained via proactive and reactive repairs as required.
- Weekly checking of all mechanical services across both buildings to ensure efficient operation, to include lights, heating, and ventilation equipment.
- To be responsible for negotiating and managing mechanical service contract contents and call outs.
- To liaise with and arrange external contractors as required, ensuring their work is to the required standard.
- To actively contribute to the customer-orientated environment, including research and input through product development.
- Liaise closely with Churchill College Maintenance to share best practice, market research, and achieve best value.
- Raise awareness & understanding of planning discipline and skill across the maintenance team.
- To develop the knowledge of mid to senior management on building and facility management.
- To ensure the safe and correct use of equipment and materials at all times.
- To ensure that all plant and equipment is maintained appropriately with training given as required.
- To carry out risk assessments in all areas of maintenance or capital investment.
- To maintain order records and check invoices against orders and purchases, recommending suppliers in the Institute’s best interest.
- To work as a member of the Head of Department team attending all meetings and training as required.
- To ensure rotas are created in a consistent, cost effective and timely manner, ensuring appropriate cover is made where required.
- In conjunction with the Operations Teams, responsible for conducting health & safety and fire training for new staff and refresher training for current staff as required.
- To ensure that you abide by all the policies and procedures which are included in the staff handbook.
- To carry out any reasonable request made by members of the Senior Management Team.
Ideal candidate
We are looking for an organised, multi-skilled maintenance manager, or maintenance professional looking for their next step.
Essential skills and experience:
- Sound working knowledge of Building Management Systems (BMS) software.
- Proven track record of working in a building maintenance role.
- Previous management/leadership experience.
- Proficient management of contractors and supplier procurement.
- Multi-trade knowledge.
- Experience managing contractors and external suppliers.
- Good knowledge of health and safety regulations.
- Excellent communication, organisation and problem-solving skills.
Desirable skills and experience:
- Current fire safety qualification
- Current first aid qualification
