English is a popular and well-established subject in the PGCE Secondary portfolio. In this context, the Institute of Education is seeking to appoint an inspirational and excellent English specialist with a strong commitment to developing a centre of excellence at the University, on a part-time basis. 

The successful applicant will work closely with the English Subject Lead to ensure an excellent trainee teacher experience. The successful applicant will be responsible for contributing to the wider PGCE course development. They will contribute to the professional development programmes for trainees as well as practicing teachers.  To maintain our strong reputation for, and commitment to an excellent student experience, we are seeking someone who can model excellent practice in their teaching and inspire trainee teachers to achieve their full potential.

The successful applicant will show a clear commitment to practice-based research and should demonstrate some evidence of developing their profile in this particular aspect of academic work. We anticipate the successful applicant will actively engage in continuing their own professional and academic development, demonstrating their love of learning.

  • Annual incremental increase up to £41,732 for Lecturers with the opportunity to progress to £45,585 and up to £54,395 for Senior Lecturers with scope to progress to £59,422. Please note that these salary figures would be pro-rated to match the 0.5 FTE.
