This position is an exceptional opportunity to contribute to our undergraduate Professional Policing programme. Located within the School of Business and Law, you'll join a dynamic team in a growing School offering programmes including Criminology and Law. Your role will be crucial in teaching, research, and public engagement within the realm of Policing.
As a key contributor, you will:
- Utilise your UK operational policing experience to teach across the curriculum, including mandatory modules, with a focus on specialised areas of policing practice.
- Design and implement innovative teaching strategies, leveraging experiential learning facilities such as a bespoke custody suite, crime room, court room, and emergency simulation suite to enrich student learning.
- Guide student projects, provide comprehensive support and feedback, and foster employability skills and professional growth.
- Collaborate with university colleagues to enhance the programme and forge external partnerships, elevating the Policing discipline's reputation through expertise and knowledge development.
- Engage in curriculum development, potentially leading the Policing programme, and initiating new study programmes, specifically including the Police Constable Degree Apprenticeship.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and participate in the development of curriculum and teaching materials for undergraduate the Professional Policing programme and apprenticeship.
- Drive initiatives in employability, outreach, knowledge exchange, and student recruitment within the Policing subject area.
- Enhance the student experience through dynamic teaching methods and real-world learning environments.
Qualifications:
For Lecturer:
- A first degree in a relevant field.
- Significant UK operational policing experience.
- A teaching qualification or substantial experience in professional education and/or training.
For Senior Lecturer, in addition to the above:
- A Master's degree in a relevant field, advanced professional qualifications, or Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy.
- Experience or capacity to act as a programme leader and spearhead development in knowledge exchange and outreach activities.
