Background of department/ Role

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic individual looking for a new challenge based within the university sector. This opportunity would suit a candidate who enjoys an active and engaging role, working closely with our Mental Health apprentices and Mental Health practitioners with apprenticeship Nursing courses.

The School of Nursing, Midwifery and Social Work brings together Adult, Child, Mental Health and Learning Disability Nursing, Midwifery and Social Work into one vibrant and dynamic community. Our aim is to provide a high-quality learning experience for our students to enable them to realise their ambitions to become registered professionals and to continue their development through a range of continuing professional development opportunities. We are committed to providing a supportive environment so that our students can develop the knowledge and skills to provide nursing care that is person-centred, compassionate, safe and effective.

The School is seeking to appoint a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer to teach on our mental health pathways as well as contribute to other areas of work within the School and wider Faculty depending on their expertise.

You will be committed to high quality, evidence-based learning and teaching and be able to facilitate learning of a broad range of nursing principles, take on the role of personal tutor and engage in interprofessional facilitation. You will be expected to contribute to modules in these courses related to your own expertise. You will also provide support to students during periods of practice placements and act as an academic assessor. An under-pinning principle of our work is the importance of the student experience, and we would expect you to share this value and work in ways that will enhance it.
