The University of Bedfordshire is continuing the development of academic programmes in the School of Life Sciences at its University Square Campus in Luton aligned to the recent development of a £40 million STEM building. We are looking to appoint a Senior Lecturer / Lecturer in Immunology to actively contribute to the development and delivery of UG and PG courses in Life Sciences aligned to healthy and sustainable futures as part of the School’s academic programmes. The School currently boasts a team of dynamic research active staff with expertise in the areas of biomedical, biological and environmental sciences. School of Life Sciences staff members are also affiliated to our research institute iBEST, Institute of Biomedical and Environmental Science and Technology (https://www.beds.ac.uk/research-ref/ibest/ibest ).

Successful candidate will hold a PhD in the relevant subject area and an appropriate level of teaching, curriculum development and research experienceinUK-HE context as detailed in the job description and the person specification. The post-holder will develop, deliver and coordinate units within our suite of undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the subject area, and at Senior Lecturer level will also act as course co-ordinator including course enhancement work. In addition, staff will be expected to contribute to academic development work (e.g. development of new units and courses) including research, enterprise and knowledge exchange. This includes the supervision of BSc/MSc project students and postgraduate research students. The post-holder will have a broad breadth of academic expertise in immunology and related subject areas. This includes applied immunology, haematology, cell and molecular biology, control of infectious disease, and skills in life sciences in the context of course areas such as BSc Biomedical Science and MSc Microbiology in Public Health. Broader experience and interests aligned to UN-SDGs in the context of health, food and the environment and allied socioeconomic impact is desirable.
