With substantial support from the HEFCE Catalyst scheme, the University has established a successful new School of Chemistry and is seeking to substantially enhance its position in its key strategic areas of chemistry at the materials science and biological interfaces and further its track record in the application of chemistry in research and innovation. Substantial investment in new research and teaching facilities, and in major capital equipment have established a dynamic and modern working environment for the School and new programmes in Chemistry for Drug Discovery and Development, Chemistry with Education and Chemistry with Mathematics are set to extend our approach for innovative interdisciplinary education informed by cutting-edge research.
With this lectureship, we are targeting individuals with the ability to develop research programmes in the broad areas of chemistry operating at chemistry-materials and/or chemical-biology interfaces that may include: formulation science (pharmaceutical, food, personal care), functional materials (sensors, imaging, energy transduction), structural analysis (chemical and/or biological mass spectrometry, solid state materials, spectroscopic methods) and synthetic methodology (at molecular and nanomaterials scales). An ability to contribute to the School’s taught programes in areas of Chemistry and Forensic Science will be an advantage. A commitment to working within multidisciplinary teams and an enthusiasm for developing research-integrated teaching will be attributes in the successful candidates.
We are seeking applicants with significant research track record and the potential to provide a sustained contribution to all aspects of the School’s activities including research, teaching and academic administration. Early career candidates will be able to demonstrate the ability to teach in specialist areas and have an enthusiasm for broadening their experience across the chemical sciences.
The University of Lincoln is a forward-thinking, ambitious institution and you will be working in the heart of a thriving, beautiful, safe and friendly city. The School provides a stimulating environment for academic research, and is based in high quality, newly developed facilities.
