This is an exciting opportunity for a clinician with an interest in allergy to join the newly established Centre for Applied Excellence in Skin & Allergy Research (CAESAR), established as part of an NIHR Research Professorship. Dedicated to meeting the pressing clinical and research needs of children with eczema and/or food allergy, it is a multi-disciplinary group of 20 people from ongoing studies (ATHENA and TIGER trials) and research planned as part of the TOPIC (Transform Outcomes for Paediatric allergy In primary Care) programme of work. Co-located within the Centre for Academic Primary Care, it has a dedicated programme manager and administrator to support team members deliver an ambitious programme of work.
This post will provide up to five years of funded post-doctoral training for a clinician to support the five TOPIC work packages and begin to establish themselves as an independent researcher, developing proposals to secure research funding, and publishing research findings in peer-reviewed journals. The successful applicant will split their time 50:50 between academic work at the University of Bristol, and clinical service commitment. Within the sessions at the University, the main activity will be research, although involvement in teaching will also be part of the role. The post-holder will be employed by the University of Bristol, and arrange or hold a separate clinical contract for an appropriate post with an NHS Trust.
The successful candidate will be capable, hard-working, motivated, able to take responsibility and work on their own initiative as well as within a team. You will have excellent knowledge of allergy with experience of conducting and publishing high-quality research in this or a related field. You will have contributed to research proposal development and/or support of successful funding bids. You will be able to manage your own workload and deliver projects on time. You will have the ability to employ excellent oral and written communication skills to communicate complex ideas to a range of audiences. You will have experience of teaching and an enthusiasm for teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students.
Contract type: Open-ended with funding until 31/03/2026
Work pattern: Part-time/ 0.5 FTE
Grade: Grade K (Profile Level C - Lecturer) or Grade L (Profile Level D- Senior Lecturer)
Salary: Grade K in the range £48,350 - £54,395 or Grade L in the range of £57,696 - £64,914 depending on experience
