We have permanent positions available for Lecturer, Senior Lecturer and Associate Professors.

The role

The University of Exeter Law School is one of the UK’s leading law schools with an international reputation for world-leading research and teaching. Currently ranked 16th in the UK by The Times (2023), the Law School is committed to furthering the goals of sustainable development and social justice through our teaching, research and impact-generating activities. Situated in the beautiful Streatham campus, the Law School has a strong tradition in EU law and socio-legal studies.

The Law School is entering an exciting phase of expansion and we are keen to appoint candidates to the level of Lecturer, Senior Lecturer or Associate Professor to grow our expertise in international economic law and international commercial law. There are a number of positions available in this recruitment round.

We are especially keen to attract candidates whose research focuses on the relationships between international economic law or international commercial law and sustainable development, social justice and human rights. You should apply if you have expertise in one or more of the following areas: international investment law; international trade law; shipping law; maritime law; law of the sea; international commercial law; mergers and acquisitions; international corporate finance; banking; and energy law (including renewable energies). We also welcome applications from candidates with expertise in labour law.

Salary  

The starting salary for a Lecturer will be from £41,732 on Grade F, depending on qualifications and experience.

The starting salary for a Senior Lecturer will be from £49,794 on Grade G depending on qualifications and experience.

The starting salary for an Associate Professor will be from £63,335 on Grade H depending on qualifications and experience.

About you

For Lecturer you will:

  • Have a PhD (or be nearing completion) or equivalent in Law and have an independent, internationally-recognised research programme in a relevant field of research
  • Have a track record of or evidence of potential for publications that are recognised as internationally excellent
  • Demonstrate the potential to attract funding for research
  • Have experience in delivering high quality education at undergraduate level and/or postgraduate level
  • Demonstrate interest in and potential for developing strong connections with business and community partners

For Senior Lecturer, you will:

  • Have a PhD or equivalent in Law and have an independent, internationally-recognised research programme in a relevant active field of research
  • Be recognised as an established authority in your discipline with a track record of publishing at least internationally excellent articles in peer-reviewed journals
  • Have a record of attracting funding for research and a clear trajectory for further grant capture
  • Demonstrate strong potential for research leadership
  • Have relationships with external organisations and funders and demonstrable pathways to impact
  • Contribute to our educational programmes and to the overall student experience
  • An active approach to inter-disciplinary and multi-disciplinary research
  • Enthusiasm for delivering high quality undergraduate programmes

For Associate Professor you will:

  • Be a leading authority in your discipline with an international reputation, as evidenced by research publications, sustained funding as a principal or co-investigator and PhD supervision as well as other esteem indicators
  • Have relationships with external organisations and funders and demonstrable pathways to impact
  • Have experience of making a significant contribution to the development and clarification of research strategy for your subject area
  • Contribute to our educational programmes and to the overall student experience
  • Contribute to leadership in the Law School
