We are open to discussing flexible working arrangements.

Are you an academic with proven abilities to carry out research and teaching in robotics? Do you have an excellent research record and the ability to obtain research funding? Are you passionate about delivering an exceptional student education experience in a research-intensive Russell Group University?

We are looking to appoint a Lecturer in Robotics (analogous to tenure-track Assistant Professor). The position provides an exceptional opportunity to pursue world-leading robotics research and teaching in a research-intensive Russell Group University.

As a Lecturer in Robotics, you will be part of an ambitious and thriving robotics community at the University of Leeds. Within the School of Computing, our robotics research spans across robotic manipulation, robot learning, robot vision, bio-robotics, and medical robotics. We also work closely with other Schools within our university, which include research groups in surgical robotics, rehabilitation robotics, field robotics, soft robots, legged robots, and aerial robotics. Robotics labs from different Schools are located next to each other in the new Sir William Henry Bragg Building (which also hosts the rest of our School), supporting close collaboration and interaction. The Robotics@Leeds network brings together the whole of robotics community at Leeds, with monthly seminars, student activities, and workshops.

We are seeking candidates working in Robotics, including, but not limited to: Robot sensing and perception (including vision, tactile, or other modalities); Robot learning; Robot systems; Simulation for robotics; Human-robot interaction; Planning, control, and optimisation for robotics.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to grow and contribute through working collaboratively in a dynamic, diverse and inclusive environment. You will join us in enhancing knowledge, innovation, education, student experience and the reputation of the University with a focus on quality and excellence.

What we offer in return

  • 26 days holiday plus approx.16 Bank Holidays/days that the University is closed by custom (including Christmas) – That’s 42 days a year!
