Job description

We are seeking a motivated Lecturer in Pharmaceutical Dermatology. They must be able to contribute to the world-class research in the School of Cancer and Pharmaceutical Sciences. We require a skilled educator to teach postgraduate students in the field of medicines development and embed within the existing teaching and research structure at King’s College London.

The applicant must aspire to generate world-class research outputs in a field aligned to pharmaceutical dermatology with research in the fields of dermal drug delivery, skin biomarkers and in vivo evaluation of advanced therapeutics being particularly favoured. This should be evidenced by a publication track record that includes world leading or internationally excellent work. The applicant should have a strong, fundable research theme that would fit in with the School of Cancer and Pharmaceutical Sciences and have obvious potential for collaboration with researchers within the School, the Faculty, the UK and internationally.

The applicant must be able to demonstrate knowledge and practice of teaching students in higher education and be capable of leading higher education teaching delivery, administration, and assessment of students. The applicant must be able to supervise postgraduate research projects. 

This post will be offered on an indefinite contract.

This is a full-time post - 100% full time equivaent.

Key responsibilities

  • Principle research investigator 
  • Supervisor of Post-doctoral researchers and PhD students 
  • Application and award of research funding as principal investigator to support a research programme in pharmaceutical dermatology 
  • Authoring of research publications that are internationally leading  
  • Delivery of teaching in medicines development and dermatology 
  • Supervision of postgraduate research projects 
  • Design of teaching programs in collaboration with members across the Faculty of Life Science & Medicine 
  • Marketing of teaching programs 
  • Engaging with the pharmaceutical industry partners 
  • Administration associated with research and teaching in higher education 

The above list of responsibilities may not be exhaustive, and the post holder will be required to undertake such tasks and responsibilities as may reasonably be expected within the scope and grading of the post.

Skills, knowledge, and experience

Essential criteria  

  • A PhD in pharmaceutical science 
  • A sound (theoretical and practical) knowledge of pharmaceutical dermatology 
  • Significant in vivo experience (holding a project and personal licenses) 
  • Experience with dermatology research in human participants 
  • Engagement in research of outstanding quality 
  • Teaching experience in medicines development and dermatology 
  • Supervision of postgraduate research projects 
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills 
  • Desirable criteria

  • Evidence of good team working skills 
  • Evidence of international collaborations 
  • Evidence of knowledge of advanced therapies
