The role

We are seeking to recruit an experienced student Learning Developer to join our Foundation Year programme in Psychology. This is a maternity cover position, fixed-term to 31 May 2025.

The post-holder will play a major part in the development of students as holistic, rounded and well-prepared learners, capable of excelling in their studies at level 4 and beyond: students informed by a passion for inquiry, who are able to excel as independent learners, are resilient, adaptive, justifiably confident in their abilities and decision-making, and emotionally intelligent.

The post-holder will be primarily located in the School of Psychology, in the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, as part of the Foundation Year programme teaching team. They will work closely with teaching team colleagues in the development, delivery and review of engaging programmes designed to prepare promising and ambitious learners from a diverse range of backgrounds to excel at degree-level study.

The post-holder will also work with other Lecturers in Learning Development who are based in our other Foundation Year programmes (Engineering and Physical Sciences/Mathematics and Computing, Business and Economics, Biosciences, Nursing and Social Sciences), and with our wider Learning Development team.

About you

A fundamental requirement of the role is a passion for student learning development and a commitment to inclusive, student-centred and innovative approaches to curriculum development and delivery (learning, teaching and assessment).

The successful candidate will:

  • have at least two years’ experience of working as a student Learning Developer, or related field, in a Higher Education (HE) setting, and
  • EITHER : be educated to degree level or higher in Psychology or related discipline, OR : have extensive demonstrable experience of learning development work in HE with Psychology students.
