The School of Engineering, Physical and Mathematical Sciences (EPMS) at Royal Holloway, University of London comprises the Departments of Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, Information Security, Mathematics and Physics. The Department of Information Security is seeking to appoint a lecturer in Information Security and welcomes applications from a broad range of areas related to information security, especially those with expertise and experience in network security, systems security, and applications of AI in security.

The post holder will be expected to produce high quality publications, attract significant research funding, and be able to deliver both excellent undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and undergraduate and postgraduate student supervision. The post holder will also be expected to contribute strongly to the development of research impact and the undertaking of knowledge exchange. Applicants that can demonstrate either strong potential or track record across these aspects of the post are encouraged to apply. 

The Department of Information Security has a record of outstanding research and hosts established research groups under the themes of: People and Society, Systems and Software Security, Smart Card and Internet of Things Security, and Cryptography. We are committed to delivering excellent teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. Our MSc in Information Security, the first of its kind anywhere in the world when it was launched in 1992, is accredited by The National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) and has over 4,000 alumni worldwide. The Department has received an ACE-CSE Gold Award recognising excellence in cyber security education from the NCSC.

The Department plays an active part in inter-disciplinary activities and benefits from a number of University led initiatives including the ‘Transformative Digital Technologies, Security and Society’, ‘Advanced Quantum Science and Technologies’ and ‘Living Sustainably’ research catalysts and the School will be leading the establishment of a new Centre of Applied AI. In addition to the opportunities with the Department of Information Security, the post holder(s) will have the opportunity to play a full role in the growth of Applied AI within the School, and across the University more generally, with the opportunity to collaborate in development of new MSc programmes in this area.

The post is based in Egham, Surrey where the College is situated in a beautiful, leafy campus near to Windsor Great Park and within commuting distance from London. There will be also the opportunity to develop and deliver postgraduate programmes at our Central London campus, located in Bloomsbury.
