The University of Brighton is seeking to appoint to the post of Lecturer in Education (Early Years and Education Studies) for the School of Education. 

The School of Education has a very well-established continuum of taught programmes including: undergraduate education and teacher education courses; postgraduate primary and secondary teacher education; apprenticeships; a Masters programme; and PhD provision supported by the Brighton Doctoral College. We have an extensive partnership with schools, colleges, early years, alternative and informal educational providers and settings across the region.  

Our reputation in the School of Education for high quality education and student experience is evidenced in the most recent higher education league table positions: we are 6th in the UK in the Guardian league table for education in 2024 and 16th  in the UK for education in the Times Good University Guide. Our work in Initial Teacher Education (ITE) provision was rated 'outstanding' by Ofsted in our most recent 2018 inspection. The recently published NSS outcomes for our undergraduate provision in the School of Education are well above the sector

You will be joining a successful and dynamic team of educationalists who, through a continued commitment to teaching and research excellence, strive to maximise students’ potential as future educationalists. We are therefore seeking to appoint a highly motivated, innovative and effective practitioner who is keen to promote early years and education studies across the school and beyond. You should be able to demonstrate a passion for teaching and students’ learning, and be able to offer a clear rationale for your pedagogy.

The successful candidate will be responsible for enthusing and inspiring students on our BA (Hons) Professional Practice in Education, BA (Hons) Early Childhood Education and Care and BA (Hons) Education courses.  You will also be expected to contribute to modules across these two courses as well as take on pastoral work as a personal academic tutor for groups of students.
