The Strathclyde Institute of Education seeks to appoint a Lecturer in Early Childhood Education. The successful candidate will contribute across undergraduate and postgraduate courses and will supervise postgraduate research students. They will have a track record of academic publications and other research
and knowledge exchange activity.

FTE: 1.0 FTE

The Strathclyde Institute of Education at the University of Strathclyde is the largest provider of teacher education in Scotland. In line with the Scottish Government’s priorities in terms of workforce planning, the Institute’s targets represent approximately 40% of the national recruitment target. The Institute also works closely with those in Early Childhood education settings and supports the Scottish Government’s agenda in relation to qualifications for this in early years settings. The Institute has a long-established history of preparing teachers and early years practitioners to work in educational settings across Scotland.

The successful candidate will be PhD qualified (or equivalent) and have academic experience that allows them to contribute to courses focused on Early Childhood Education such as the BA Childhood Practice and the MEd Early Years Pedagogue, and to Initial Teacher Education courses, and Education Studies more broadly. There is also an expectation that the successful candidate will have a track record of publication in Early Childhood Education and will contribute to the research culture within the Institute. They will have evidence of grant funding and knowledge exchange activity, and experience of supervising postgraduate research students. Applicants will also demonstrate relevant teaching experience and the ability to contribute to the REF 2029.
