Lead Dental Nurse

It is an exciting time to join Bristol Dental School as we have moved to a state-of-the-art site (1 Trinity Quay, Avon Street, Bristol) delivering a new operating model and have settled into the new ways of working since opening in the Summer of 2023.
We are looking for experienced Lead Dental Nurse for Urgent Dental Care/ Oral Surgery and Restorative Dentistry Departments to join us at the Bristol Dental School. We look to appoint an enthusiastic, motivated and organised dental nurse to lead on the day-to-day line management of the dental nurses and trainee dental nurses on their clinical placement. Proactively ensuring that staff, students and nurses follow safe working practices and guidance which underpins their training.
There will be opportunities for in house CPD and dental nurse post-qualifications in the future, and when required, to support post-graduate students and evolving clinical need.

  • You will be responsible for rostering the dental nurses across the clinical area to maximise efficiency and patient throughput, to support the training of trainee dental nurses and dental undergraduates.
  • To work closely with the dental undergraduates to monitor progress and provide guidance , support and encouragement when they are working chairside.
  • Work closely with the senior nursing team and clinical governance and patient safety manager by contributing to the updating of risk assessments , policies and procedures to include clinical audits.
  • Lead on staff and student briefings and inductions on the department, making recommendations improvement by reviewing local rules, leading by example and promoting good working practice.
  • You are well organised , enthusiastic and motivated individual who can manage and prioritise their workload and respond to changing prioritise in a busy 119 chair clinical environment.
  • Previous leadership experience and supervision of a clinical dental nurse team is essential.
  • The successful candidate will be flexible, adaptable and be able to communicate within the wider team effectively.
  • Applicants must be fully qualified and registered with the General Dental Council and hold a post graduate qualification or in the process of undertaking one.
  • Full time/Part time/job share working available – Monday – Friday , 35 hours per week.
    Salary Range - Grade G £29,605 ( 16.26 per hour) to £32,982 ( 18.12 per hour) based on 35 hours per week- depending on experience.
