Daniel Hyde (Director of Music) seeks to appoint excellent singers as altos and basses to join the Choir of King’s College, Cambridge, in September 2024.

About the Choir:

King’s College Chapel is home to the Choir of King’s College, Cambridge, one of the world’s most renowned and best-loved choirs. In addition to singing the daily services in Chapel, the Choir performs a number of high-profile events, including the live radio broadcast on Christmas Eve of A Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols, which is heard by countless millions of people around the world; the sister-programme Carols from King’s is pre-recorded for BBC television, and more recently an additional programme Easter from King’s has been made. The Choir’s extensive touring schedule includes a visit to Australia this summer, and the USA in 2025. Since 2012 the College has promoted recordings on its own label.

All members of the Choir sing in all Chapel services as required during Full Term; in addition, full participation at concerts, broadcasts, tours, recordings and additional services both during Term and during the vacations is expected.

King’s College is fortunate to have some extraordinary buildings, the oldest of which is the Chapel - perhaps the most iconic building in Cambridge. Begun in the 1440s, the Chapel displays the largest fan vaulted stone ceiling in the world, unique intricate carvings, and some of the most exquisite medieval stained-glass windows surviving in the country. The Chapel attracts tens of thousands of visitors every year and, during the University terms, welcomes hundreds of people to share in daily public services.
