Overview

About the Role

The School is seeking to appoint a Laser Optics and Physics Research Laboratories Manager to provide effective and efficient technical support for the purposes of research and commercial partnerships. The post holder will manage the day to day running of the Laser Optics Lab and manage the team running the Department of Physics and Astronomy research labs.

The post-holder will work collaboratively with colleagues within the School and wider University to ensure the effective delivery of their objectives.

About You

You should have Postdoctoral experience in laser based experimental techniques. You will be skilled in operating and aligning lasers, have demonstrable experience of planning and setting up optical layouts for optics experiments and experience in lab management.

You will work closely with Technical Facilities Manager and the School Health and Safety Coordinator to ensure that the dedicated Lab spaces are operated and maintained in compliance with School and University policy and the UK Health and Safety Executive guidelines.

The School forms one of five within the Faculty of Science and Engineering and consists of two distinct research departments delivering world-leading research and high-class teaching: Chemistry and Physics and Astronomy.
