This is your chance to join Kent and Medway Medical School (KMMS) in pioneering a new era of responsive, student-centred medical education.  We are seeking an inspirational educator and role model to contribute to teaching, design, delivery and the quality assurance of clinical placements across year five of the School’s undergraduate medicine programme.   

KMMS opened to it first cohort to students in 2020 and is now teaching the first four years of the five-year Bachelor of Medicine Bachelor of Surgery (BM BS) programme. 

KMMS has been created to be a beacon for first-class medical education and research. Bringing together the resources of the University of Kent and Canterbury Christ Church University, our whole ethos is one of partnership.  

The post holder will work with the Head of Year 5 and manage a team of Specialty Leads to ensure that our Year 5 placements give our students the opportunity to meet all the Learning Outcomes required by our programme and the General Medical Council’s Outcomes for Graduates (2018). They will also be expected to undertake additional leadership roles within the school subject to individual area of expertise and workload planning discussions.  

To make your mark in this role, you will be suitably qualified with a specific interest and background in undergraduate clinical, healthcare and/or medical education. We expect you to have a track record of excellence in teaching and a healthy attitude to change and new challenges and a co-operative approach that matches our own. 

To be successful in this role you will have/be: 

  • a UK recognised primary medical qualification and current registration and licence to practise with the GMC 
  • demonstrable knowledge and experience in one or more of the specialisms listed above 
  • experience of teaching undergraduate or postgraduate students in a clinical or academic setting 
  • a proven ability to work co-operatively and collaboratively with colleagues and contribute to multi-disciplinary projects 

The role will involve working on the campus sites of both the partner universities in Canterbury and Medway and conducting extensive liaison work with all our clinical placement providers based across Kent and Medway.
