The Cambridge Institute for Medical Research (CIMR) is seeking to appoint an experienced IT Technician to join a small team supporting a community of researchers and staff within a modern research facility.
The successful applicant will assist with the management and development of a broad IT infrastructure, and will share responsibility for all aspects of IT provision, from server and network infrastructure through to desktop and audio-visual support.
The Institute offers a busy but friendly working environment, and would suit self-motivated candidates with communication skills of a high standard.
Applicants should be educated to degree level, and will already have accomplished skills in at least 3 of the following areas:
- Cisco switching and routing
- Linux system administration
- Windows desktop support and current PC hardware
- Apple Mac support
- Windows Server and Active Directory
- MySQL, Oracle, or PHP/Python web development
The successful candidate will be given training as required to ensure cross-cover within the IT team.
The role is full time on-site, but we are open to applications from individuals who wish to be considered for part-time working or other flexible working arrangements. The nature of the role and the team requires a minimum of 80%, for example working 4 days per week, or 5 days per week with shorter hours.
Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 3 years in the first instance.
